This term we are learning to make healthy choices. We have been talking about the food pyramid, eating more fruit and vegetables and doing exercise to keep us fit. Geoff has been teaching us Athletics. Everyone has enjoyed running, hopping, jumping and skipping over the obstacles and throwing quoits in the field.
Last Friday we shared our photostory with the school. We hope you like it too.

The Tidy Tots
This term we have been busy making clothing from junk. We have all been busy collecting plastic bags, bottles, old fabric, bottle caps and cardboard so we can make our outfits. Creating new clothes from things we usually throw out was great fun but what a mess we made. The photo shows the class one Monday afternoon!!!
But look what the class did while singing a song about keeping our class, our homes and our parish clean. They are all just wonderful and so very helpful. I think all the Mums and Dads of the children in Room 3 are very
lucky .
I hope you enjoy the song and video as much as we did.

Tasty Hedgehogs
Today in reading Jomin, Shravin, Mario, Jack and Valentine read about having fun with hedgehogs. This is not as strange as it sounds, the hedgehogs that they had fun with were bright, colourful and yummy.
Each had half an orange, some toothpicks, grapes and marshmallows. They put the grapes and marshmallows on the toothpicks and then stuck them in the orange, finally they gave the hedgehog a smiley face with a sharpie.
Have a look at their funny hedgehogs:

Safety Expo
This morning we held our Safety Expo where parents and family could come and share in their children's learning. Room 3 were really excited about having visitors to work with them and to listen to them discuss all they had learned this term.
We began the morning by watching Hectors World at www.thinkyouknow.com. The class watched some informative cartoons and then shared the message with others. From our safety learning this term we have come up with some class guidelines when using the internet. After that we did some fire safety role plays. Mrs Andrewartha came to visit and shared some wonderful stories with us. Michael and Isabelle read their fire safety recounts using clear and confident reading voices. Then we visited our blog to listen to Bethany read her recount about Dog Safety.
Our final activity centred around road safety. Some students built a road in class and we helped some figures to cross the road safely. We also identified safe places to cross the road. Room 3 had a wonderful time sharing their learning as you can see from the attached photos.

Fun Learning
Last week we had a variety of new learning experiences. On Wednesday we had a friendship building afternoon because we had just finished learning about how Jesus made friends with everyone. We worked in small groups learning how to share, speak nicely to each other and to offer help when and where it was needed. It was lovely to listen to the children being polite and caring while at the same time having lots of fun playing with a range of new games.
We have also been reading and writing about lots of fairy tales. Last week it was the turn of the Gingerbread Man. We even learned to sing a song about him. Instead of drawing a gingerbread man the children were given a gingerbread man to decorate and take home to show Mum and Dad. They had lots of fun creating funny faces and some gingerbread men/women had shoes, clothes and hair too. I was very impressed by the creative skills of all the children. This was all made possible by some very helpful Mums. Thank you so much.
I hope you enjoy the pictures!

The Dog Lady
In the hall the dog lady was talking about being safe around dogs. What I learned was that if a dog comes up to you don’t run away, stand still and keep your eyes on the dog. The next thing I learned was if you see a dog on its own don’t pat it as it will bite you. You must leave stray dogs alone. I learned lots of things about dogs. By Bethany
